On Friday. Jan. 12, Virginia State Sen. John McGuire was honored for his work. Previously, before winning the State Senate District 10 election in November, McGuire served in Virginia’s House of Delegates, representing District 56. Because of his work during this time, the bills he filed, the Virginia Association for Career and Technical Education honored him with the Policy of the Year Award.
The Association for Career and Technical Education provides students the opportunity to learn trade skills such as agriculture science, and engineering, while still in high school.
“This award is a great recognition for a team effort,” McGuire said in a statement. “It really is amazing what we can achieve when we respect one another, put our differences aside, and work as a team.”
District 10, which McGuire represents now, includes portions of Hanover, Louisa, Prince Edward and Henrico counties, to go with all of Buckingham, Cumberland, Amelia, Appomattox, Fluvanna, Goochland and Powhatan. He has since announced plans to run this coming year for Congress, challenging current District 5 Congressman and fellow Republican Bob Good.
