James Landon Branch, of Buckingham, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 15. James was born on July 31, 1938 in Buckingham County. He was the son of Willie L. Branch and Annie Taylor Branch. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Stella Christine Branch, Leslie Branch Ragland, Lucille Branch Wiseman and Brenda Branch Ragland and his brothers, George Roosevelt Branch and Willie L. Branch Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean Elizabeth Bryant Branch; a son, James L. Branch Jr. (Debra); three daughters, Tammy B. Huddleston (Tony), Deborah B. Herndon (David) and Janet M. Rose (Pete); 10 grandchildren, Christopher Hucks, Anthony Hucks, Kalya Jamerson, Landon Branch, Toni Mitchell, Meghan Allen, Melissa Herndon, Cody Herndon, Brandon Ragland and Brian Ragland; 17 great grandchildren; a brother, John R. Branch (Gail); three sisters, Nannie Mae Moyer, Georgie (Cat) Cash and Rebecca (Becky) Gibson (Phil); a special sister-in-law, Joyce B. Branch and a special niece, Randi Branch.
James was a member of Maple Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was retired from C & O Railroad. James enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
A celebration of James’ life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m., at Maple Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church in Wingina, with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6- 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan.17, at Dunkum Funeral Home in Dillwyn.
