On Friday, Nov. 17, Piedmont Regional Jail hosted its first Volunteer/Contractor Appreciation Dinner. Officials say the administration is always willing to work with those that are willing to volunteer his/her services upon meeting specific criteria and the screening process. The volunteers provide a variety of services consisting of religious, skills training, and behavioral health treatment. That includes things like the Successful Living Program, which is currently being facilitated by Crossroads Community Services Board. The facility officials noted that volunteers save the jail a tremendous amount of money by providing otherwise paid services. Superintendent Townsend stated and instilled in staff that all offenders are humans and should be treated with respect.
