Tigers finish seventh at ODAC Cross Country Championships

Hampden-Sydney College cross country posted 187 points to finish seventh among 11 teams at the 2023 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Cross Country Championships. The event was hosted by Roanoke College on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Green Hill Park in Salem. Senior Carter Burcham led the Tigers with his 8K time of 27:57.1 to place 42nd individually among 111 runners. The University of Lynchburg won the race with 17 points, while Frank Csorba of Lynchburg was the individual winner with a time of 24:52.0 among the large field of league runners.
Burcham was followed by junior Kade Minton (28:43.2, 52nd), sophomore Winston Ransone (28:54.6, 54th), along with freshmen Jackson Herndon (29:46.3, 65th), Haden VonCanon (30:24.4, 73rd), Dylan Evans (31:21.1, 80th), Kam Maldonado (32:55.5, 88th), Jefferson Duffey (34:37.9, 96th) and Davis Mills (36:10.0, 101st).
The Tigers equaled their seventh-place finish at the conference championship from a year ago, and last accomplished in 2010.
H-SC will race again at the 2023 NCAA South Regional Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., the 8K race again being hosted by Berry College in Mount Berry, Georgia.
