On Friday, May 26, six departments responded to an accident at the corner of U.S. Route 15 and Saw Mill Road. The two vehicles involved went down an embankment, pinning some people inside. Toga, Dillwyn and Farmville volunteer fire departments, along with Virginia State Police, the Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Buckingham County Emergency Services were all called out. They used several ladders, as well as stabilizing and extraction equipment at the scene. Toga officials said they assisted with the landing zone for the helicopter to airlift victims and helped handle traffic control. (Photo by Dan Pempel)
