William Logan Stinson Jr., 76 of Cumberland, fondly known as “Billy Jim” to his family and friends, went home to his heavenly Father on April 17. He was born on Dec. 28, 1946 to his late parents, William L. Stinson Sr. and Alma Blanche Stinson. He was preceded in death by his half-brother, Robert Lewis Stinson.
Billy Jim had a great love for hunting and especially enjoyed deer and rabbit hunting. He also was a fan of car racing and would go to the local drag strip and also watch NASCAR on weekends. He also enjoyed watching a good baseball or softball game.
He is survived by a son, James W. Stinson; granddaughter, Kristen D. Stinson; sister, Judy S. Lumpkin; devoted brother and sister-in-law, Andrew L. and Sally Stinson; half-sisters, Sharon A, Stinson and Tammy S. James; nephew, Kevin Lumpkin and his wife, Sandi; nieces, Tracy L. Stinson and husband, Bryan Elliott and Kati S. Arrighi and husband, Eli; great nephews, Tristan Stinson, Kyle Lumpkin, Logan and Rylan Elliott and great nieces, Bryleigh R. Elliott and Charlie and Rhyann Arrighi.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, April 23, at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery at 2 p.m.
