Buckingham Baptist Church located at 24234 North James Madison Highway in the Goldhill Area of New Canton will be hosting a drive-in service at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 12. All those planning to attend the service should drive into the parking lot and remain in their cars throughout the service, having no contact with individuals while there and must leave following the service.
Belated happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to our dear friend in Christ, McKinley Randolph, age 83, of Farmville who celebrated his birthday Thursday, July 16.
Hatcher Baptist Church of Cumberland will be hosting an in-house worship service Sunday, July 19, at 9 a.m. for those 60 years and older. Those 59 years and younger will attend the in-house worship service at 11 a.m. Those attending the in-house worship services must sit with their families and remain six feet apart from other individuals or families. Those who are attending one or the other of these services, and still feel uncomfortable going in, may remain in their cars and tune their car radio to FM 87.9 to hear the service. Also at 6 p.m., there will be a drive-in parking lot service for all ages. Those planning to attend the service should drive into the parking lot and remain in their cars or sit outside their vehicles with a lawn chair with their families.
The 2020 Five County Fair of Farmville has been canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our sympathy goes out to the Wharam and Agee family of New Canton. Crystal Wharam Agee, age 50, went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 10. She will be greatly missed by all.

Victory Baptist Church located at 4339 Salem Road, Spout Springs will be hosting an in-house Sunday school and worship service Sunday, July 19, at 10 a.m. This will be followed by morning worship at 10:30 a.m. Families may sit together with distances of six feet from the next individual or family. Cedar Baptist Church located at 3932 Bell Road, Dillwyn will be hosting drive-in parking lot services Sunday, July 19 at 10 a.m.
All those planning to attend the service will drive into the parking lot and are to remain in their cars throughout the duration of the service. Having no contact with individuals while there and must leave following the service. Also please note the annual homecoming and annual revival services normally held in the month of August have been canceled due to COVID-19.
The 33rd Annual Virginia Catfish Festival sponsored by the Southside Shrine Club to benefit Shriners Hospital for Children for 2020 has been canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
