Eva S. Hailey, age 98, died Wednesday, June 24, in Amelia. Born February 1, 1922 in Hudson, Massachusetts, to João Marques dos Santos and Eleonor Cardoza Simas dos Santos. She grew up in Connecticut with sisters Alice Ramos and Adeline Praleikas. After marrying Frank J. Hailey Sr., Eva moved to Meherrin where she stayed and lovingly raised her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Hailey Sr., daughter, Nancy H. Clark, son, Frank J. Hailey Jr., grandson, Mark D. Clark, and granddaughter, Kristin L. Hailey. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Patricia T. Hailey, grandson, Frank J. Hailey III, granddaughter, Kacie A. Hailey, and great-grandchildren Jackson, Emma, Matthew, and Ava.
