Tips sought for string of Cumberland break-ins

The Cumberland Sheriff’s Office is looking for tips regarding a series of break-ins that occurred Saturday, June 20.
According to Deputy Ryan Bates, a call came in at approximately 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning alerting the office a vehicle had been broken into in the Pine Grove Road/Miller Lane area.
Bates said between 6:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. that day, deputies ultimately responded to five separate addresses within the same area for four reported vehicle break-ins and one home break-in. He said various items were taken during the incidents, ranging from an assortment of power tools, hand tools, electronics, U.S. currency, jewelry, etc.
Officers were able to collect fingerprints and DNA from multiple scenes, which Bates said have been submitted to the Virginia Department of Forensic Science for comparison and examination.
