This fall, a third Starbucks and the first free-standing version with a drive thru is expected to open in the Town of Farmville.
On Monday, May 4, Asset and Project Manager Will Allen with Farmville 460/15 Associates, LLC confirmed that the former BP gas station located at 2003 South Main Street adjacent to the Tru Hotel and Arby’s would be reopened into a full-service Starbucks.
There are currently two other Starbucks located in Farmville, but they are not full-service coffee shops.
One is located on the campus of Longwood University, and the other is located inside the Barnes and Noble book store located on Main Street in the Downtown District.
According to Allen, renovations of the location will continue through the summer months.
Allen says that Starbucks will have a seating area, onsite parking, and a drive-thru.
“It is also close to the bypass.” he added.
Allen said Starbucks is pursuing drive-thru stores instead of inline shop space locations across the country for the convenience of customers.
“Starbucks had been looking around in the market, and the property was a good fit,” Allen said.
“We continue to appreciate the town, mayor, manager, council, and building inspector and the administration for all its support in helping attract business and supporting us in the process.
Allen also said former Town Manager Gerry Spates was instrumental in helping with the process.
Farmville 460/15 Associates, LLC is also responsible for developing the Wal-Mart shopping center, Huddle House, and is involved in the ICA facility located off of Waterworks Road in Farmville.
Starbucks has not announced how many people it will employ, but an average store has around 12-20 employees.
