Police from multiple agencies coordinated a search Thursday morning, May 7, for a male subject originally reported to be at a trailer park off Industrial Park Road in Farmville.
Police were unable to locate the subject.
A press release from Sheriff L.A. “Tony” Epps of the Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office identified the subject as Troise D. Lockett of Prospect.
“We had a call for service this morning about 1:46 a.m.,” Farmville Police Chief Andy Ellington said.
He noted the call was a report of an unwanted person at a residence in the Callaway trailer park off Industrial Park Road.
“When the officers got there, the subject took off running, and they were able to determine that he was wanted on outstanding warrants out of Prince Edward County,” Ellington said. “So they called in the assistance of state police canines and a helicopter with the (Forward Looking Infrared Radar) FLIR system.”
The statement from the sheriff’s office noted Lockett is wanted on three felony charges in Prince Edward County. Ellington indicated the subject’s outstanding warrants were related to matters domestic in nature.
Ellington said police searched for about seven hours but were not able to locate the subject.
“We called it around 9 o’clock this morning,” he said Thursday, May 7.
The sheriff’s office press release stated anyone with information on the location of Lockett is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (434) 392-8101 or the Farmville Police Department at (434) 392-3332. Individuals with information may also call Crime Solvers at (434) 392-3400.
The other agencies involved in the May 7 search, in addition to the Farmville Police Department and Virginia State Police, were the Longwood University Police Department and Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office.
