Green Front Furniture has reopened its doors to the public in Farmville after a closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The business, which announced its reopening in a Thursday morning, May 7, email, has instituted some protocols to safeguard both customers and staff. The protocols are listed on the company’s website, www.greenfront.com, and President Den Cralle emphasized and expanded upon some of them in a brief YouTube video posted May 5 on the Green Front Furniture channel.

The first protocol involves adjusted store hours. Green Front is closed Sunday. It is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Next on the list, company officials noted social distancing guidelines have been mapped out throughout Green Front’s facilities.

“Obviously, we have the 10-people-per-building rule, but we’re also issuing the 6-foot rule, so we’re really trying to make sure our customers and employees abide by all the (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines,” Cralle said in the video. “I know there’s a lot.”

The Green Front website stated that with nearly 1,000,000 square feet of showroom space across 13 buildings, customers and associates can easily follow the 6-foot spacing guidelines. Signage is posted prominently throughout all buildings as friendly reminders.

The website noted Green Front has enhanced its sanitization protocols.

“Our sales associates will be wearing masks, replacing handshakes with waves and engaging in frequent and stringent handwashing and hand sanitizing,” officials stated. “Disposable gloves are also available as needed. Our customers are also encouraged to wear face masks and to use available hand sanitizer frequently.”

Cralle said in the video that Green Front has hand sanitizer at most of the company’s locations, and it also has gloves available for customers.

“We do have masks for customers if you want them,” he said. “We don’t have a ton, but again, we do encourage you to bring your own masks or face covering when you get here.”

The company’s safety protocol list next stated that strict housekeeping protocols include extra sanitization of all surfaces as well as sanitizing and cleaning all shipped items before placing them on the showroom floor or delivering them to a customer’s home.

Company officials encouraged customers to take their purchases with them when possible, something Cralle echoed.

“We encourage you to bring your own truck or take your items with you because our delivery policies have changed a bit,” he said. “We’re no longer, for the time being, doing a full white glove service but instead (are) doing a set-it-at-your-door or put-it-in-your-garage (service).”

The list noted Green Front associates are staying home if they feel unwell and customers are asked to do the same.
