Banners featuring the various seniors of Buckingham High School’s graduating Class of 2020 have popped up along Main Street in Dillwyn in preparation for a parade Friday.
According to Buckingham County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Daisy Hicks, the banners, hung on poles along Main Street, serve as a both decoration honoring the Class of 2020 and a signal foretelling the Senior Drive Thru scheduled for May 29.
Hicks said seniors will drive through Dillwyn’s Main Street from 6-8 p.m. on Friday. Faculty, staff, school board members and administrators will decorate their cars and wave/ cheer for the graduates as they end the drive at the Central Virginia Christian School parking lot.
The Dillwyn Town Council and Buckingham Chamber of Commerce, Hicks said, have encouraged local businesses to decorate for the Senior Drive Thru event.
The event will serve as a social distance-friendly celebration honoring the seniors’ hard work and dedication.
