Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority participated in the American Heart Association’s (AHA) National Wear Red Day to raise awareness in the fight against heart disease and strokes in women.
The national sorority, as well as the local chapter, Kappa Rho Omega, has been a longtime partner with AHA through its signature Community Impact Day entitled “Pink Goes Red for Heart Health Day.”
The AHA encourages everyone to “know their numbers,” which refers to key markers of heart health life, blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, body mass index and circumference. Kappa Rho Omega members participated in a heart health workshop, which included blood pressure screening, weight and body mass index checks. Heart health brochures were also made available.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is a community service organization whose motto is “service to all mankind.”
