Drive-in church services planned

The Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will not be hosting its Spring Fling Dance on April 18 due to the coronavirus.

The Cumberland County Landfill Alert Committee will not be hosting its regular monthly meeting Sunday, May 3, due to the coronavirus.

Buckingham Baptist Church located 24234 North James Madison Highway in the Goldhill area of New Canton will be hosting an 11 a.m. drive-in service Sunday, April 19. All those planning to attend the service will drive into the parking lot and are to remain in their cars throughout the duration of the service having no contact with individuals while there and must leave following the service. Thank you for your cooperation.

Happy birthday wishes go out this week to the following people: Joe Jones of New Canton and Hannah Sprouse of Buckingham are both having birthdays Friday, April 17, Jackie Ponton of Buckingham on Saturday, April 18, Lewis Johnson of Buckingham on Sunday, April 19, Casey Ownby of Dillwyn on Monday, April 20, and Ruth Blevins of Fairfax on Tuesday, April 21.

Our sympathy goes out to the Gough family of Wingina. Eleanor Gough, 86, of Dillwyn, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 31. She will be missed by all.

A very special happy anniversary wish goes out to Billy and Marie Adams of Farmville.

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a non-profit organization, will not be hosting its regular monthly meeting Monday, May 4.

The 2020 annual spring Miles Reunion scheduled for Saturday, April 25 has been canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Visiting the home of Glady LeSueur of Dillwyn last week was her special friend in Christ, Jane Grey of Green Bay.

Our sympathy goes out to the Waycaster family of Dillwyn. Billy Lynn Waycaster, age 88, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 5. He will be greatly missed by all.
