Billy Lynn Waycaster, 88, of Dillwyn returned to his heavenly home on April 5, 2020. He was the son of Robert Arley and Belle Adams Waycaster of Dillwyn. He was born April 14, 1931 in Sevierville, Tennessee.
He spent most of his life at Jones Chapel Church and helped build it. He became a deacon in 1971.
Billy went into the Marine Corps in 1952 to Paris Island with the sand fleas as he would tell you. From there he went to Camp Pendleton to radio school. He spent 11 months in Korea and was on the radio when President Eisenhower signed the treaty. From Korea he was stationed in San Diego and San Francisco and got an honorable discharge.
After returning back to Virginia he worked for Cumberland County as the building inspector. He was a faithful husband, brother and a beloved uncle.
He married the late Betty Dunn Waycaster in July 1955 in Fluvanna.
He is survived by his beloved nieces Terri England, Bethany Reeves (James Tyler) whom took care of him.
He is survived by his brother Ted Waycaster (Ruth) of Dillwyn, sister in law Carolyn England, of Dillwyn. He had many nieces and nephews whom he loved, Kenny England (Stacy) Steve Dunn (Liz) Judy Ownby, Carol Ownby and Ryan Whaley (April).
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Millard Waycaster, A.G. Waycaster, J.D. Waycaster, Faye Waycaster Ownby, and Mae Waycaster Midkiff.
A private interment was held at Jones Chapel Baptist Church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jones Chapel Cemetery Fund.
A memorial will be held at a late date.
