Dear Editor:

I ask all sensible people to encourage the town leaders not to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to move a statue that is part of history.

This community has many historical sites for tourist dollars, such as High Bridge, the Weyanoke Hotel, the Moton Museum, the two college town, and more. It’s all history that one can learn from and appreciate.

I can think of a lot of areas to spend tax dollars like our community library that benefits everyone, our rescue squad that benefits everyone, our volunteer fire department that benefits everyone. 

Please everyone, encourage the town leaders to spend tax dollars wisely. Thank you.
