Whether aiming to spend Valentine’s Day with a sweetheart or looking for an excuse to celebrate being single come Feb. 14, there’s something for everyone when it comes to V-Day activities this week.
Those looking for an unconventional way to celebrate will enjoy The Brew House’s “Valloween” celebration. A holiday for both the loved and the loveless, Valloween mixes all the romance of Valentine’s Day with the spookiness of Halloween.
Glamorous with just a touch of spookiness, this event invites partygoers to dress in their Halloween best. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Valloween dinner specials will be available all day Thursday, Feb. 13, through Sunday, Feb. 16, with live entertainment Friday night featuring the JPT Jazz Trio and Thursday night karaoke. This is The Brew House’s third time celebrating this annual event, although this is the first time Valloween has graced the Town of Farmville.
Lovers and singles alike will enjoy a night of sipping and painting with A Unique SIP Paint Event Company’s couple’s paint night Thursday, Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Farmville’s Applebee’s restaurant.
For $55, couples can enjoy an appetizer and two entrees from the 2 for $20 menu, two fountain drinks and a Triple Chocolate Meltdown for dessert, as well as a painting for the paint class. Individual painters will receive 20% off their entree and can paint for $25. These deals are both cash only.
Those wanting to impress their date with a three-course meal need look no further than Hotel Weyanoke. At $75 per couple plus tax and a 20% service charge, the dinner will feature a first course consisting of Arcadian lettuce with mint, fennel, jicama, goat cheese, slivered almonds and a blood orange vinaigrette. Second course will include a 12 oz. pan-seared, chili-rubbed New York strip served with sauteed Swiss chard, duck confit potatoes and a chocolate-port wine sauce. Third course is a red velvet cheesecake with whipped cream cheese and a blood orange coulis, to be topped with a chocolate heart macaron.
Ladies will receive a rose, and couples will receive a complimentary small cheese or pepperoni pizza for the little ones tagging along. Seating is very limited and reservations are advised.
Whether celebrating this lovely holiday or just finding a reason to enjoy good food and drinks, there’s something for everybody to do this Valentine’s Day in Farmville.
