Bonds were made and laughter shared as volunteers were busy at work building Piedmont Habitat for Humanity’s newest home in Buckingham County early Monday morning, Jan. 27.
The home, located on Culberth Street in Dillwyn, is the fifth home being built by Piedmont Habit for Humanity.
Doreen Jones, the owner of the home, was on-site working and helping other volunteers complete the construction process on her new home.
“It’s a dream come true,” Jones said. “I’ve been waiting for this for a long time, and I am so happy.”
Completion of the home is scheduled for the end of February, according to Piedmont Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors President Donna McRae-Jones, who was also on-site volunteering.
“We are excited to build another Habitat home in Buckingham,” Director of Resource Development and Marketing Sam Rabon said. “This has only been possible because of so many dedicated local volunteers and donors who desire to lend a helping hand to their neighbors. Doreen is an amazing woman and we are honored to partner with her in building a safe, decent, affordable home.”
Piedmont Habitat for Humanity currently works with individuals and families in Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Nelson, and Prince Edward Counties to provide safe and secure homes.
