Thank you for the article, “He Loved What He Did,” by Titus Mohler about Bill Wall.
Bill was an extraordinary man who loved and served Farmville for so many years. I hope this will never be forgotten.
The Wall family did more for the town and surrounding counties by their newspaper coverage than anyone knows.
Bill and his wife, Iris, were respected and loved by everyone who knew them. My mother worked for him at The Herald for over 35 years, and I was in and out of the business from the time I was very young until after Mom retired. I worked there also, when I was in high school.
It was a wonderful atmosphere to work in, and I’m so happy that The Herald was my first job experience. The first time he paid me ($1 an hour, cash) he laughed and said, “Don’t spend it all in one place.” This was more than 50 years ago.
Mr. Mohler’s article says more than I could about Bill’s character, his service to our country, and his work, so I will just add that he will be missed by all who loved him. Thank you.
