The Cumberland County Landfill Alert Committee will be hosting their regular monthly meeting on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 3 p.m. at the Cumberland Community Center located at 45 South and Davenport Road in Cumberland. The purpose of this meeting is to inform Cumberland County Residents and surrounding counties with updated information as to why this Mega Landfill will be detrimental to everyone. All are welcome.

Happy birthday wishes go out this week to the following people: Anita Ford of Appomattox on Friday, Jan. 17, Junior Trent of Dillwyn on Saturday, Jan. 18, Dottie Roosevelt of Cumberland and Roy Knighton of New Canton both having birthdays on Monday. Jan. 20.

Spreading God’s Gifts Inc., a nonprofit organization that helps people in their hour of need in Buckingham and surrounding counties, will be hosting a fundraising dinner on Saturday evening Feb. 1 located at First Baptist Church in Dillwyn. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. to include pork roast and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll, dessert and beverage all for a donation. Eat in or take out. Door prizes will also be given away. Due to a death in the association, The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association has rescheduled its regular monthly meeting from Saturday, Jan. 11, until Saturday, Jan. 18, for breakfast at 9:30 a.m. to be held at Teresa’s Place, Dillwyn.
