CVA to host artists reception

Central Virginia Arts will host an Artists Reception Friday, Jan. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Riverside Café, 522 N. Main St., Farmville.
This is an exhibition opening for a show by two members, Susie Shade and Janet Williams, who will be displaying their works during February and March.
Shade was born in Winchester. She is a 38-year resident of Spout Spring and a graduate of Grace College, Lynchburg University, and Liberty University. A retired special education teacher, she took a college course in art and has received art instruction from two local artists, a floor cloth artist from Vermont, and an artist from Australia Throughout her life she has always enjoyed drawing, painting, crafting and photography. She is looking forward to retiring in Alaska in the near future.
Williams has enjoyed drawing and other artistic endeavors since she was a small child and has been painting in oils since 1998. Having completed the teacher training programs at the Bob Ross Studios, where she studied under international instructors, Williams is a Bob Ross Certified Instructor.
She teaches landscapes, seascapes, florals and wildlife in her studio near Brookneal.

There will be savory and sweet bites as well as beverages. The public is welcome. The event is free.
