Farmville Fire Department (FFD) firefighters battle a car fire in the parking lot at the intersection of Third and North streets in Farmville on Tuesday night, Dec. 17. FFD Fire Chief Dean Farmer said the fire started after the vehicle stopped. The car cut off and would not start. Then the fire started in the engine compartment. “We received the call at 8:37 p.m. for a reported vehicle fire,” he said. “Upon arrival flames were visible from the vehicle. Engine 1 arrived and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported. The scene was under control within 20 minutes.”
