The Farmville Area Chamber of Commerce held its fourth annual Holiday House Tour on Saturday, Dec. 14.
The event is held as a fundraiser for the chamber but also as a way to give back to charitable organizations, according to the chamber’s Executive Director, Joy Stump.
“We always pick a charitable organization that is a chamber member to help support,” explained Stump. “We will donate a portion of our proceeds this year to the Southside Center for Violence Prevention, formally known as Madeline’s House.”
The house tour had over 200 attendees, some coming from as far away as the Richmond area, according to Stump. “That’s what we love to hear,” said Stump. “We want to attract people to Farmville so they can see for themselves how wonderful it is.”
This year’s tour began at the Centra Hospitality House and included seven homes and a stop at Longwood University’s Rotunda building.
“This is something we plan to continue every year because people seem to really enjoy it,” says Stump. “It shows off our community at its finest.”
