Community Special Services at Payne Memorial UMC in Cumberland will be held Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. with lunch to follow and a new year’s celebration.

Virginia Boyles and her granddaughter Reve Moore, both of Cumberland, visited in the home of Mable Wilkerson of Chesterfield on Friday, Dec. 20. A nice visit was enjoyed by all.

Cumberland County Landfill Alert Committee will be hosting its regular monthly meeting on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 3 p.m. at the Cumberland Community Center located at 45 South and Davenport Road in Cumberland. The purpose of this meeting is to inform Cumberland County residents and surrounding counties with updated information as to why this mega landfill will be detrimental to everyone. All are welcome to attend.

The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Courtroom.

Victory Baptist Church located at 4339 Salem Road, Spout Springs, will be hosting its annual New Year’s Eve watch night service on Tuesday, Dec. 31, from 9 p.m. til just past midnight. Join them for great music, testimonies and a message from God’s Holy Word from Pastor Jeff Worley. There will also be refreshments during this time in the church fellowship hall. Everyone is welcome to join us as they ring out the old year and shout in the new year praising God for his many blessings and answered prayers in 2019.
