On Thursday, Oct. 10, 18 Fuqua School students joined students from Cumberland County and Prince Edward County High Schools at Hampden-Sydney College to participate in the Farmville Youth Summit sponsored by the Farmville Chamber of Commerce.

The theme of the day was developing the entrepreneurial mindset and ecosystem.

In the morning sessions the students were divided into three groups and attended presentations on business planning, financing a business and then marketing a business. Afterward, the students teamed up to develop business models. Some of the ideas from the students included starting a taxicab business in Farmville, opening a Five Guys Restaurant, creating biodegradable fishing nets, and launching a motorized scooter rental business. After lunch, the students heard from a panel of business and community leaders.
