Despite a rainy afternoon and the impending threat of nighttime thunderstorms, the Cumberland Community Trunk or Treat sponsored by the Alliance of Cumberland Churches successfully hosted more than 200 children and their families for an evening of candy and fun.
Spanning the two blocks between Payne Memorial United Methodist Church and Fitzgerald Baptist Church, the event, held Thursday, Oct. 31, featured games, hot dogs, hot chocolate, games and trunks full of candy for costume-clad residents of all ages to enjoy.
Shiloh New Covenant church provided its church bus as a “Candyland” house for children to tour through. Many neighbors in houses along the way handed out candy and greeted children throughout the night.
Families enjoyed all that the event had to offer and children were able to head home with their buckets and baskets filled with treats well before the storm began.
