Longwood University’s Office of Admissions recently partnered with the Kappa Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority, Incorporated® to provide an educational experience for local high school students. Over 225 students from Amelia, Appomattox, Buckingham, Cumberland, Prince Edward and Cristo Rey (Richmond), participated in “College 101,” attended interactive, informational sessions about the college admissions process, financial aid and essay writing. In addition, representatives from the University of Lynchburg, Sweet Briar College, Hampden-Sydney College and the University of Richmond were present for a mini college fair. Students were able to enjoy a tour of Longwood’s campus and lunch before returning to their respective schools.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is a community service organization whose motto is “Service to all Mankind.” This program was offered as a part of the sorority’s target program #CAPS (college admissions process) that assists students throughout the admission process.
