Eight students from Buckingham County High School’s drama program was set to present a student original one act play on Friday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m.
The one act, entitled “The Counselor’s Office,” was written by senior, Tajhmir Gough, who also wrote last year’s one act, “Love is Broken Glass.
“The Counselor’s Office” is an edgy look into the lives of today’s teenagers. Teen suicide, school shootings, drug use and broken families are some of the issues that are raised in this intense dramatic presentation of post-millennials.
Tajhmir’s gifted writing skills quickly draw the audience into the characters’ situations and help us all to get a glimpse of the ways that modern teenagers respond to the troubled world around them.
The students performed in competition at the VHSL One Act play festival on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Stuart’s Draft High School. Due to sensitive content, smoking and language, the performance is not recommended for children under 12.
