After much deliberation and prayer, George Lee Dowdy III, of Cumberland, has stated he will seek a fourth term to Cumberland County’s 2nd District (Madison District) School Board Seat.
Dowdy attended Cumberland County Public Schools k-12 and received two special recognition awards during his tenure.
He has lived in the area all his life and has attended Southside Virginia Community College, Virginia Commonwealth University and Longwood University, graduating from all three with an associate degree in administration, a bachelor’s in criminal justice, and a master’s degree in sociology, respectively.
Dowdy has been recognized 11 times for his continued education with the Virginia School Board Association. He has received one award of honor, three awards of distinction, and seven awards of excellence for his dedication to the school division and to the Commonwealth.
Dowdy will be launching a write-in campaign to retain his seat on the board.
