Lanay Walker, captain of Jail Administration at Piedmont Regional Jail (PRJ), recently received the national designation of Certified Jail Manager (CJM) by the authority of the American Jail Association through the Jail Manager Certification Commission. The hallmark certification is granted upon the successful completion of a rigid experiential background application and an intensive four-hour examination jointly prepared by the American Jail Association and the Jail Manager Certification Commission. Certification in jail management is a demonstration of competency and professionalism in the field. It documents the mastery of a strong level of knowledge in the specialty and demonstrates continuing education and growth. Walker has been with Piedmont Regional Jail Authority for 18-1/2 years. She is a graduate of the Virginia Association of Regional Jails Leadership Initiative inaugural class of 2015, which is held in collaboration with the American Jail Association and has served on the VARJLI advisory committee since 2017. Walker is a certified Virginia Contracting Associate for the Commonwealth of Virginia and she has progressed through the ranks at PRJ. We commend Walker on her dedication and accomplishment.
