Cumberland County Landfill Alert Committee will be hosting their regular monthly meeting on Sunday, Oct.13, at 3 p.m. at the Cumberland Community Center located at 45 South and Davenport Road in Cumberland. The purpose of this meeting is to inform Cumberland County residents and surrounding counties with updated information as to why this mega landfill will be detrimental to everyone. All are welcome to attend.

Our sympathy is extended to the Powers family of Cumberland. Danny Edward Powers went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 16. Sympathy also extended to the Fulcher family of Prospect. Gladys Elizabeth Scruggs Fulcher went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 20. She will be missed by all her family and friends who knew her.

The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Courtroom.

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a nonprofit organization, will be hosting its regular monthly meeting on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m. at Teresa’s Place, Sprouses Corner. All members and their guests that plan to attend will need to pay for their own meal.
