The Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors will be holding three public hearings at its regular September meeting Tuesday, and two of them will pertain to the cost of recent construction projects.
As noted in a county advertisement, there will be a public hearing concerning a proposed amendment to the Fiscal Year 2019 (FY19) County General Fund Budget to reflect the expenditure of approximately $2,744,789 associated with the construction of a new building to house the Prince Edward County Department of Social Services and renovations to the former STEPS Centre to house a new business locating in the county.
Another of the public hearings concerns a proposed amendment to the Fiscal Year 2020 County General Fund Budget to reflect the receipt of $7,168,789 from the issuance of bonds by the Virginia Resource Authority on the behalf of Prince Edward County, as cited in the advertisement. The funds will be used to reimburse the county for funds previously expended in FY19 to renovate the former STEPS Centre, to construct the new social services building and to pay for renovations to the Prince Edward County Courthouse.
The third public hearing is unrelated, focusing on proposed amendments to the animal control ordinance in the county code.
All three public hearings are scheduled for Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Room on the third floor of the Prince Edward County Courthouse Annex at 111 N. South St. in Farmville.
