Virginia Ruth Sharpe

Virginia Ruth Sharpe “Nannie” went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 14, 2019 at the age of 87 with her loving family by her side. Nannie was an amazing mother and grandmother and her family was the light of her life.

She is survived by her children, Edith Sharpe Gunter and husband Randall of Blackshear, Georgia; Jerry Sharpe and wife Jane of Oxford, North Carolina; Kay Phillips and husband Jeff of Blackshear, Georgia; Blake Sharpe and wife Vanessa of Dillwyn, Virginia; and Donna Linthicum and husband Walter of Arvonia, Virginia; ten grandchildren, Steven Gunter of Waycross, Georgia; Robert Gunter and wife Hannah of Blackshear, Georgia; Bryan Gunter and wife Amy of Duffield, Virginia; Brandi Goff and husband Brad of Mineral, Virginia; Jason Sharpe and wife Beth of Troy, Virginia; Tiffany Hayes and husband Chad of Augusta, Georgia; Toni Banks and husband Brett of Vidalia, Georgia; Ryan Sharpe and wife Jackie of Kents Store, Virginia; Austin Linthicum of Arvonia, Virginia; and Jake Phillips of Blackshear, Georgia; thirteen great-grandchildren, Brooke Colley and husband Craig, Ashley Gunter, Courtney Gunter, Dalton Boatright, Madison Gunter, Harley Gunter, Cason Banks, Talmadge Gunter, Mason Goff, Nickel Sharpe, Holland Gunter, Eli Sharpe and Lincoln Gunter; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Barbara Toney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother Mamie Ruth Duncan Oliver, her father Sidney Toney, her brother Aubrey Toney, her sister Barbara Jean Sharpe and brother-in-law James Alex (Buck) Sharpe.

Interment was private in the Arvon Baptist Church cemetery in New Canton.
