Fundraising for neighbors

The Cumberland County Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting a benefit baked spaghetti dinner and silent auction on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 5-7 p.m. at the fire house located at 30 Old Buckingham Road, Cumberland. Donations will be accepted at the door.

Welcome home to Linda Miles of Cumberland who spent July 22-Aug. 7 in the hospital. She is said to be doing well as of this writing.

The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County courtroom.

A nice crowd attended the former Craddock Terry annual shoe factory breakfast meeting at Teresa’s Place, Dillwyn, on Saturday, Aug. 10. Everyone enjoyed a nice time and is now looking forward to the 2020 meeting.

On Sunday, Aug. 18, at 12:30 p.m., Cedar Baptist Church located at 3932 Bell Road, Dillwyn, will be hosting a benefit chicken barbecue complete with sides, a dessert and a cold drink for a donation for cancer patient Angie Davis Danly, who is not able to work at this time due to her aggressive health issues. Belfast Baptist Church located 2169 Bible Road, Crewe, will be hosting their annual homecoming services on Sunday, Aug. 18. Sunday school will begin at 10 a.m. followed by morning worship at 11 a.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Jeremy Anderson from Kearnersville, North Carolina. This will be followed by lunch in the church fellowship hall. The day will conclude at 2 p.m. with Southern Gospel Music at it’s best featuring Becon Call from Roanoke. Everyone welcome.
