Butler new county attorney

Brian T. Butler will serve as the new county attorney for Cumberland County.
Cumberland Administrator Don Unmussig confirmed the appointment in an email July 26.
Unmussig said that Butler will serve the county on a part-time basis.
The decision following a closed session meeting held July 25 by county administration.
Butler succeeds Vivian Seay Giles, who served as the Cumberland County attorney and administrator. Giles was recently appointed as attorney with Sands Anderson PC, based in Richmond.
Butler is an attorney who practices in Farmville and has served with the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad. Butler was contacted for comment by The Herald. He said he could not provide comment at this time.
