Brooks to run for Board of Supervisors

Gene Brooks is a candidate for the 4th District seat on the Board of Supervisors in Cumberland County. A longtime resident of Cumberland County, he is an active member of his church and has served as deacon, as well as in other positions. Brooks is a member of Gideons International and has served as president of the local Farmville camp.
He is an Army veteran and the chaplain of American Legion Post 32. He is also a past president of the Cumberland Elementary School PTA.
Brooks has been concerned about the direction Cumberland is headed in for some time. “We cannot continue to operate our financial house in such a precarious manner, nor can we expect the property owners to continue to foot the bill for the goods and services that we demand.”
His vision for Cumberland County is to actively seek small business and industry so that Cumberland County can increase their revenue stream. “I have over 25 years of experience working with state and local economic development agencies and plan to put that experience to work immediately.” says Brooks. “For too long, Cumberland has been known as the anti-business county. We must and will change that perception. I will also work diligently to bring a grocery store to the county.”
With your support, we can move Cumberland County forward. That is why he is asking for your vote Nov. 5.
