A bridge in Amherst County was named on Friday, Aug. 2, in honor of fallen Virginia State Police Trooper Lucas B. Dowell.

According to the Town of Amherst website, the bridge is located at U.S. Route 29 Business.

Dowell, of Chilhowie, and Corey Johnson, of Cumberland, died following a shooting that occurred in Cumberland County on Feb. 4.
