The Prince Edward-Farmville Dixie Majors baseball team went 0-2 in the 2019 Dixie Majors State Tournament in the South Hill over the weekend but earned the tourney’s sportsmanship award.
“I am so proud of all my guys for the way they played during the state tournament,” Prince Edward-Farmville Manager John Adams said. “Our win-loss record was not what we wanted but being there to represent Prince Edward Farmville was an honor & the teams sportsmanship trophy was well deserved. I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with all the guys and hope each one of the them can find something valuable from the game we all love.”
The Prince Edward-Farmville squad fell 3-2 to Buckingham on Saturday despite outhitting Buckingham 5-2.
“Things just didn’t go our way,” Adams said.
Despite the loss, Christian Adams threw 15 strikeouts and allowed no earned runs.
