The Prince Edward-Farmville Youth Association (PEFYA) Machine Pitch all-star team was eliminated from the 2019 Dixie Youth Baseball Machine Pitch State Tournament on Monday evening in Victoria, but when the tourney ended Tuesday, the PEFYA All-Stars were announced as the event’s sportsmanship award winner. “We were extremely pleased to find out that the team won the sportsmanship award, and we hope that the players and the people who supported the players are proud of this recognition as well,” PEFYA Manager Tom Wears said. “We tried to use the tournament season as an opportunity for the players to not only improve their skills but to also learn to compete on each play while respecting their opponents, their opponent’s skills and the umpires.” Team members pictured with their district tourney hardware are, from left, front row, Levi Williams, Jordan Reed, Keegan Wears, Leyton McCann, Reece Pembelton, Roger Pride; middle row, Tymiere Harris, Mike Malone, Jace Jones, Thomas Atkins, Brayden Weaver, Bryson Robison; back row, Coach Brian Atkins, Coach Peter Cambell, Manager Wears and Coach David Williams.
