JULY 1-5

REVIVAL, 7 p.m. at St. Douglas Baptist Church, Charlotte. The Revs’ Loretta Bailey and John Craighead will be the guest preachers along with a guest choir each night. All are welcome.

JULY 6

100-MILE YARD SALE, 7 a.m. beginning at Chula Junction Flea Market Antiques and Collectibles on U.S. Route 360 in Amelia County.

MEN’S COFFEE CHAT, 8 a.m. at Farmville Baptist Church.

BIG YARD SALE, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at Piedmont Area Veterans Council, 820 Longwood Ave., Farmville. Lots of preschool age clothes. The public may leave donations for office supplies used by the PAVC to prepare veterans’ casework. Key Office Supply has the paper and toner needed if anyone wants to purchase and deliver directly to 820 Longwood Ave. With your help we can keep this service operating for our veterans and their families.

SANCTUARY DEDICATION SERVICE, 3 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church, 837 Guinea Road, Farmville. All are welcome to come and join us as we fellowship, worship and praise God during this Historical Service.

PALS INDEPENDENCE DAY COOKOUT AND BARN DANCE, 6-8 p.m. at 115 Main St., Pamplin, with cookout favorites. The dance will begin at 6:30 p.m.

JULY 7

BIBLE STUDY, 9:45 a.m. at Farmville Baptist Church with worship service to follow at 11 a.m.

HOMECOMING, 11:30 a.m. at St. Douglas Baptist Church, Charlotte. The Rev. Wendell Brown will bring the morning message. Dinner will be served. All are welcome.

ARTISTS RECEPTION, 6-8 p.m. at Riverside Cafe, 522 N. Main St.

JULY 7-11

BIBLE SCHOOL, 6:30- 8:45 p.m. at Hobson’s Chapel, 6483 Old Buckingham Road, Powhatan for ages 3-18.

JULY 8

POETRY READING AND RECEPTION, 5-6 p.m. at the Barbara Rose Johns Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library. The winners of the NEA Big Read Poetry Contest will read their poems. A brief reception will follow in advance of the Friends Board meeting which will start at 6 p.m. Open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

JULY 12

SUMMER OUTDOOR FILM SERIES, dusk, at Crute Stage, corner of Main and Fourth Street, Farmville. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Popcorn, candy and drinks will be for sale. No pets permitted. Rain date will be following evening.

JULY 13

RED, WHITE AND BLUE PICNIC, 6-8 p.m. at 315 Catalpa Lane, Prospect, site of the old post office and law office. Hot dogs, baked beans, chips, dessert, drinks and watermelon for a donation. Bring your own chair. The plan is to have some Prospect history presented.

JULY 14

BIBLE STUDY, COMMUNION AND WORSHIP, 9:45 a.m. at Farmville Baptist Church with communion and worship at 11 a.m.

HOMECOMING, 11 a.m. at Aspen Hill Baptist Church, Brookneal, with Pastor the Rev. Dr. Maurice Finney. Dinner will be served. There will be no afternoon service.

HOMECOMING/REVIVAL, 11 a.m. beginning with the regular service at Monroe Baptist Church, Rice. At 2:30 p.m. homecoming services will begin with the Rev. Walter Fells of Mercy Seat Baptist Church, Farmville, along with his choir, ushers, deacons and church family. Revival will begin Monday with prayer and praise service at 7:30 p.m. and the preached word at 8 p.m. nightly. There will be different speakers and choirs each night.

HOMECOMING, 11:15 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Cumberland, with the Rev. Tim Woodson bringing the word. Dinner will be served. The Rev. Ollie Bolden of Petersville Baptist Church, New Canton will deliver the message for the afternoon service at 3 p.m. All are welcome.

JULY 14-19

HOMECOMING/REVIVAL, 11 a.m. at Jericho Baptist Church, Farmville beginning Sunday, with morning service followed by a fellowship luncheon. Evening service at 3 p.m. with pastor elect the Rev. Cetric Gayles of the Cornerstone Baptist Church accompanied by his choir and ushers. Revival service nightly at 7 p.m.

JULY 15-19

REVIVAL, 7 p.m. at Aspen Hill Baptist Church, Brookneal. Preacher for the week will be the Rev. Troy R. Anderson, pastor of St. Mary’s Baptist Church of Amherst. Different choirs will render the music each night. Come and be blessed.

JULY 16

YMCA COMMUNITY GARDEN WORK DAY, 8-10 a.m. at the YMCA, Farmville. Share the work, share the harvest. Seeds and tools provided. All ages welcome. Stay as little as you like or as long as you can. For more information call (434) 392-4246.

JULY 17-19

REVIVAL, 8 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Cumberland with the Rev. Sam Trent of Old Green Creek Baptist Church, Farmville. A different choir will perform each night. Prayer and praise service will begin at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome.

JULY 18

FARMVILLE BOOK CLUB TO MEET, 6:30 p.m. at Farmville Library to discuss the book “Where’d You Go” by Maria Semple. Everyone welcome.

YOUTH CELEBRATION OF PRAISE, 3 p.m. at First Liberty Baptist Church. The theme will be “I’ll Give Him My Best Praise,” through songs, praise dancing, poetry reading and dramatizations. Refreshments will be served.

ASTRONOMY NIGHT, 8-11:30 p.m. at High Bridge. Learn about NASA’s Apollo program, see a moon map with the six Apollo landing sites identified and learn about how the moon affects life on earth. Event is free. Parking rates apply.

JULY 21

BIBLE STUDY, 9:45 a.m. at Farmville Baptist Church with worship service to follow at 11 a.m.

ANNUAL DAY, 11 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church, 387 Guinea Road, Farmville hosted by the Pastor’s Aide Ministry. This year’s theme is “Are You Serving Wholeheartedly?” with the scripture reference Romans 12:1-12. The Rev. Silas Blanton, Associate Minister of Sharon Baptist Church, Farmville, will deliver the preached word.

HOMECOMING, 11 a.m. at Hobson’s Chapel, 6483 Old Buckingham Road, Powhatan. Potluck meal will follow. Everyone welcome.

JULY 22-26

REVIVAL, 7:30 p.m. at Mercy Seat Church. There will be different guest revivalists for the week. Prayer and Praise service will begin at 7 p.m. All are welcome.

FUN BUNCH LUNCH, noon at Merk’s, hosted by Farmville Baptist Church.

CAMP LOUD & CLEAR for youth ages 8 and older who are deaf or hard-of-hearing at Holiday Lake 4-H Center. Contact Jake for more information.

BIBLE STUDY, 9:45 a.m. at Farmville Baptist Church with worship service to follow at 11 a.m.

HOMECOMING, 11 a.m. at High Bridge Baptist Church with a dual sermon by Pastor’s Reginald and Eva Hurt. The Rev. Dr. Irene B. Allen and choir of Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, Blackstone, will provide the service at 2:30 p.m.

JULY 28-AUGUST 2

HOMECOMING/REVIVAL, 11 a.m. service with Pastor Carrington at Tearwallet Baptist Church. Dinner will be served with a service to follow at 3 p.m. Revival will begin Monday with different speakers, choirs and ushers each night.

HOMECOMING/REVIVAL, 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church, Jetersville with Pastor, the Rev. Marvin Oliver delivering the morning sermon. Lunch will be served. An afternoon service will begin at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Damion T. Batts of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Blackstone accompanied by his church family. Revival will begin on Monday with prayer and praise service at 7:30 p.m. and worship service at 8 p.m. There will be different pastors each night. All are welcome.

JULY 29-AUGUST 2

REVIVAL, 7:30 p.m. nightly at High Bridge Baptist Church. There will be different preachers and choirs each night. Everyone is welcome.

JULY 29-31

FOOD CHALLENGE: SUMMER EDITION, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for youth ages nine and up to learn cooking skills and participate in a Food Challenge cooking competition on Aug. 2 with other area teams and a Pork Challenge competition in Smithfield on Aug. 24. Space is limited. Contact Jake at VCE, (434) 392- 4246.
