High Bridge Trail State Park will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon on Saturday, July 20, from 8-11:30 p.m. with an astronomy event on High Bridge.
A moon map identifying the six Apollo landing sites will be on display, and guests will learn how the moon affects life on Earth. If atmospheric conditions cooperate, guests will see the stars and Jupiter along with four of its moons appear shortly after sunset. Later, the waning Earth moon will rise into view and reveal the general areas of the Apollo landing sites.
A telescope, a set of astronomical binoculars, and multiple focus-free binoculars will be on site for visitors to view the celestial attractions .
The park is normally closed at night, so take this special opportunity to enjoy High Bridge after dark. The event is free, parking fee applies.
