It was a vintage afternoon Saturday in the Tractor Supply Company parking lot in Farmville as the Heart of Virginia Classic Auto Club (HOVCAC) held a Cruise-in, drawing classic vehicles of many different makes and models.

The club is an inviting one that exists so people can share a love of classic vehicles.
“You don’t have to have a classic car, but have the interest, and usually that’s the push that gets people,” HOVCAC President Maurice Maxwell said.
The club holds a Cruise-in from 4-8 p.m. on the third Saturday of every month from April-September in the Tractor Supply Company parking lot in Farmville.
“Anybody’s welcome, any kind of car is welcome,” club member Tom Ashton said. “We appreciate people that have cars and people that like cars.”
The Cruise-in is a great place to receive helpful car advice too.
“If you’ve got questions wanting to fix something, there’s generally somebody here that can answer it,” Ashton said.
The club also attends other car shows and makes plans to do so during its regular meetings, which take place the second Monday of every month at Merk’s Place in Farmville.
“We meet and eat at 6 (p.m.), and we have our meeting at 7 (p.m.),” Maxwell said.
Ashton said the club’s Cruise-ins average 40 to 50 cars, but more are always welcome.
“Come on out, you know what I’m saying?” Ashton said. “We enjoy people, and you don’t have to have (a classic car) to like to look at them.”
