On Northam’s response to gun violence

Governor Northam advocates new gun control laws while at the same time, is OK with terminating the lives of babies born with special needs. A gun requires human intervention to kill. A firearm with a mind of its own is not yet heard of — at least one available to the general public. So, when does the Governor, or any other politician, stop using these senseless shootings to push their political agendas, and begin considering the value of human life? Perhaps the Governor should be campaigning for the rigid enforcement of those laws that are in place to protect the innocent and punish those who commit heinous crimes against other humans, alive inside or outside of the womb. By itself that would be a call to respect human life and may even give pause to those who can still reason and convince them to use some other means to resolve their differences, fears, anger and/or frustration. People kill people; not knives, not guns, not cars, not bombs. It takes human intervention to weaponize any of these items. Unfortunately, until we begin enforcing our existing laws and promote respect for the living and the lives of humans again, we will continue to be confronted by individuals who for one reason or another, are willing to destroy anything resembling peaceful existence.
