Another point of view on guns

It is very sad to read opinions printed in The Herald from people, especially an elected official, who believe that guns are more important than the lives of people. The Governor of Virginia is vilified for being “rash and reactionary” in his response to innocent people being murdered. Nothing that he proposes will prevent sane and law abiding people from obtaining a gun lawfully. Of course, if someone wants a gun, he will get it some way.
A point was made about abortion. I do not advocate abortion, but I have never been raped either. No unwanted pregnancy can occur without a man. All of the massacres in my memory have been committed by men. Abortion or murder, as long as it doesn’t happen to you, who cares. The Second Amendment states“ a well regulated militia.” The Christian heroes of Charlottesville might fit that requirement. What happened to “love thy neighbor”? Is it only for sissies?
