At a groundbreaking ceremony held May 5, rain did not dampen spirits for those gathered around the site for a new building being constructed by Jamestown Presbyterian Church. Attendees included members and Trustees of Jamestown Presbyterian Church, representatives of The Peaks Presbytery, teachers and members of the Full Circle Board of Directors, members of the building committee and the owners of the construction company, Quality Service of Farmville.
The building will be utilized by the Full Circle School as classrooms. This project began in 2016 when the Jamestown congregation adopted the Full Circle School as a mission project to be located in the Rice community. The church needed a purpose and the school needed a home. The school has outgrown the small building of the historic church.
Beverly Hines, Jamestown session member, stated, “Jamestown is very pleased to be able to support the school, and with how the school is helping support Jamestown. We are not unlike many rural churches where membership has declined; yet, we want to continue God’s work. Full Circle has a policy of honoring all faiths and peoples. This is what Jesus teaches, “Love one another.” She went on the share, “the church may only have a few active members, but our mission work is alive and growing through this school.”
The new building will open in August and will actually house grades Pre-K through middle school. Registration is open. For more information visit www.fullcircleschols.com or email info@fullcirclenatureschool.org.
