MAY 17

END ENVIRONMENTAL RACISM NOW: MARCH WITH UNION HILL, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.,
Canoe Run Park 600 N 22nd St, Richmond. Participants will march with William Joseph Barber III, Co-chair of the N.C. Poor People’s Campaign Ecological Justice Committee, Karenna Gore with Center for Earth Ethics and Pastor Paul Wilson, Union Grove Baptist Church, across the Robert E. Lee Bridge. A concert and rally will be held afterward at the Oregon Hill Overlook.

MAY 18

COMMUNITY WIDE YARD SALE, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church. The event is open to the community. Reserve a space and come together to sell household goods in a group setting. Proceeds from the reservations will benefit mission work. Contact the church office at (434) 392-6119 for more details.

EAGLES FLIGHT RALLY, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Farmville Regional Airport. A parent or legal guardian must be present.

RAINBOW TEA, 3 p.m. at Mossingford Baptist Church. All are welcome.

ANNUAL MISSION DAY, 3 p.m. at First Liberty Baptist. Program titled “Women in the Bible.” New Store Baptist Choir will render the music. Light refreshments will be served.

MEN AND WOMEN DRESSED IN HATS, 3 p.m. presented by Levi Baptist Church Senior Choir, Green Bay. Worship leader, Brother Wesley Reed. Musical guest, The Royal Supremes of Farmville.

CHICKEN SUPPER, 5-7 p.m. hosted by Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary at the firehouse, 45 Campbell Hill Road, Prospect. Carryout available. Everyone is welcome to attend.

ANNUAL STATE RALLY, 6 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, Meherrin. The Traveling Angels of Prospect will be the guest singers. Everyone welcome.

MAY 19

SERVICES, at Farmville Baptist Church. Bible study at 9:45 a.m. with worship service at 11 a.m.

GUEST MINISTER, 11 a.m. at First Rock Baptist Church of Prospect will be the Rev. Preston Little of Lynchburg.

WOMEN’S DAY, 11 a.m. at Baptist Union Baptist Church, 125 Baptist Union Road, Dillwyn. Minister Cynthia Allen, Co-Pastor of the spreading Oak Baptist Church will be the guest preacher accompanied by her choir. The theme is “The Prayer of a Righteous Woman,” the colors are blue and white with silver accessories. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

WOMEN’S DAY SERVICE, 3 p.m. of the Cornerstone Baptist Church Women’s Ministry. Service theme will be “We Are Pressing On for in our Pressing there is a Blessing.” Praise and worship with the Tearwallet Baptist Church Choir and special guest, Second Union Baptist Church Praise Team of Goochland. Cornerstone is located at 16 Horsepen Road, Farmville.

WOMEN’S DAY, 3 p.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church with guest minister Romaine Holcomb, Associate Pastor of the Reed Rock Baptist Church, accompanied by his church choir. Refreshments will be served.

MEN’S DAY, 3 p.m. at Sharon Baptist Church, 1130 Plank Road, Cumberland. Dr. Keven Caleb of the Thessalonia Baptist Church will be the guest speaker and the Thessalonia Male Chorus will provide the music. Dinner will be served.

ALMA LEE SCHOLARSHIP SERVICE, 3 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church. The Gospel Traveliers will be in concert. All are welcome.

CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at New Witt Baptist Church, Farmville Highway South, Meherrin Road. The Rev. Winston Bland, pastor. The public is welcome.

TOWNHALL MEETING, 3 p.m. of the Cumberland County Landfill Alert (CCLA) group at the Cumberland County Community Center located at 11 Davenport Road, Cumberland. Special guest speaker will be Del. Lee Ware from Powhatan. All are welcome.

WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Upper Room Baptist Church, Tuggle Road, Farmville. Enjoy board games and fellowship. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

COST SHARE ASSISTANCE MEETING, 2 p.m. at the Prince Edward Extension Office, Farmville.

MONTHLY MEETING, 6 p.m. of the Prince Edward Branch NAACP at the SCOPE building, 505 Griffin Blvd., Farmville. All are welcome.

MAY 22

MOVIE AND DISCUSSION, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Farmville-Prince Edward Library for the movie “Instant Family.” A short discussion will follow on foster care and adoption in our region. Drinks and popcorn provided.

TEEN ESCAPE ROOM, 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Farmville-Prince Edward Library.

MAY 25

MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE, 1 p.m. hosted by the Cumberland County Historical Society on the Cumberland Courthouse Lawn. Join us to honor those who served and are no longer with us. If you wish, you may bring pictures of family who have served along with any information to share with the Historical Society for its files.

MAY 26

SERVICES, Farmville Baptist Church. Bible study at 9:45 a.m. with worship service at 11 a.m.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAY, 3 p.m. at Peaks Baptist Church, Prospect. The Rev. Otis Johnson, pastor. All are welcome.

MEMORIAL DAY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Bethel Grove Baptist Church, Rice. All are welcome to come out and help remember their loved ones who are deceased.

BENEFIT PROGRAM, 3 p.m. for the New Store Baptist Church building fund featuring The Voice of Galilee of Farmville, The No Name Gospel Singers of Keysville and The All For Christ gospel singers of Buckingham.

19TH PASTOR’S ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at The Old Green Creek Baptist Church. Special guest will be the Rev. Henry Fletcher, pastor of St. Louis Baptist Church, Charlotte Courthouse accompanied by his choir, ushers and congregation. Dinner will be served. All are welcome.

MAY 30

FOSTER PARENT AND INFORMATION SESSION, 4-6 p.m. at Farmville-Prince Edward Library to learn more about the need for foster parents in our region. Bottled water provided.

MAY 31

MONTHLY MEETING 1 p.m. of the MOAA (Military Officers Association of America) at the Riverside Café, 522 N. Main St., Farmville. All active, former and retired military officers and spouses/widows are welcome to attend. This is a self-pay luncheon.

JUNE 1

DINNERS, 10 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. hosted by The Farmville United Women’s Organization at the Randolph Masonic Lodge on Griffin Boulevard in Farmville. The menu will include fried fish or pig feet dinners or fried fish sandwiches. Sides, roll, dessert and beverage included.
