The Church and Community Events calendar is published each Friday. Items must be submitted by 10 a.m. Monday for that Friday’s calendar. Events should be emailed to CommunityCalendar@ FarmvilleHerald.com.

MAY 10

DEMONSTRATION, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. hosted by Virginia Cooperative Extension at the Drakes Branch Farmers Market. Area Specialized Food Safety Agent, Eric Bowen, will be doing a demonstration on low sugar strawberry jam.

SPRING FLING VENDOR FAIR, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital, 5001 E. Patrick Henry Hwy., Burkeville. A variety of crafts and items. For more information contact Dominique Watson at (434) 767-4539 or email dominique.watson@dbhds.virginia.gov.

LATE NIGHT LIBRARY, 6-7 p.m. at Buckingham and Farmville Libraries. Tie-dye tote bags, perfect for adventures or carrying books.

MAY 11

HUGE YARD SALE, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at Piedmont Area Veterans Council, 820 Longwood Ave., (Fourth Street) Farmville for Jack Garland American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 32. The public may leave donations for office supplies used by the PAVC to prepare veterans’ casework. Key Office Supply has the paper and toner needed if anyone wants to purchase and deliver personally.

MAY 12

SERVICES, at Farmville Baptist Church, Bible study at 9:45 a.m.; fellowship at 10:30 a.m. and communion and worship service at 11a.m.

ANNUAL WOMEN’S DAY, 11 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church, 4050 Salem School Road, Red Oak. If anyone is interested in singing in the Salem Baptist Church Community Choir, rehearsals will be Saturday at noon. Come out and let’s lift the Lord’s name in songs and the word.

MAY 13

WATERSHED IMPLEMENTATION PLAN MEETING, 9 a.m. of the CRC in the Mill Room basement conference room.

FOSTER PARENT AND INFORMATION SESSION, 4-6 p.m. at Farmville-Prince Edward Library to learn more about the need for foster parents in our region. Coffee and doughnuts provided.

MAY 18

COMMUNITY WIDE YARD SALE, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church. The event is open to the community. Reserve a space and come together to sell household goods in a group setting. Proceeds from the reservations will benefit missions work. Contact the church office at (434) 392-6119 for more details.

ANNUAL MISSION DAY, 3 p.m. at First Liberty Baptist. Program titled “Women in the Bible.” New Store Baptist Choir will render the music. Light refreshments will be served.

MEN AND WOMEN DRESSED IN HATS, 3 p.m. presented by Levi Baptist Church Senior Choir, Green Bay. Worship leader, Brother Wesley Reed. Musical guest, The Royal Supremes of Farmville.

CHICKEN SUPPER, 5-7 p.m. hosted by Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary at the firehouse, 45 Campbell Hill Road, Prospect. Carryout available. Everyone is welcome to attend.

SERVICES, at Farmville Baptist Church. Bible study at 9:45 a.m. with worship service at 11 a.m.

WOMEN’S DAY SERVICE, 3 p.m. of the Cornerstone Baptist Church Women’s Ministry. Service theme will be “We Are Pressing On for in our Pressing there is a Blessing.” Praise and worship with the Tearwallet Baptist Church Choir and special guest, Second Union Baptist Church Praise Team of Goochland. Cornerstone is located at 16 Horsepen Road, Farmville.

COST SHARE ASSISTANCE MEETING, 2 p.m. at the Prince Edward Extension Office, Farmville.

MAY 22

MOVIE AND DISCUSSION, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Farmville-Prince Edward Library for the movie “Instant Family.” A short discussion will follow on foster care and adoption in our region. Drinks and popcorn provided.

MAY 24

TEEN ESCAPE ROOM, 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Farmville-Prince Edward Library.

MAY 26

SERVICES, Farmville Baptist Church. Bible study at 9:45 a.m. with worship service at 11 a.m.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAY, 3 p.m. at Peaks Baptist Church, Prospect. The Rev. Otis Johnson, pastor. All are welcome.

JUNE 14-15

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL DAY CAMP, at Maysville Baptist Church, Buckingham Courthouse. Hours will be Friday, June 14, from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 15, from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. All children ages four through sixth grade are welcome. Lunch will be provided both days and families are welcome on Saturday at noon for lunch and the closing program. Fun, interactive Bible teaching, games, snacks, experiments, music and more.
