The driver of a tractor trailer that overturned on the 9100 block of Andersonville Road Thursday morning did not appear to be injured, according to reports from Buckingham Emergency Management Coordinator Cody Davis and Virginia State Police.
The incident occurred after 10 a.m. Thursday, Davis said.
Davis said, according to the driver of the tractor and witnesses, that the tractor was traveling through Andersonville Road and swerved to miss a vehicle that was pulling out of a driveway and came into the tractor trailer’s lane.
“It ended up resulting in loss of control of the tractor trailer,” Davis said. The tractor trailer missed the vehicle, Davis said.
“The vehicle is partially in the roadway with the cab on its side, but the trailer portion, which is empty, remains upright,” Virginia State Police Public Relations Coordinator Susan Rowland said. Rowland said there did not appear to be injuries or anyone transported.
Davis said none of the product or fuel inside of the tractor spilt as a result of the accident. Davis said the driver had self-extricated and appeared uninjured. The driver was the only occupant in the tractor trailer.
Dillwyn Volunteer Fire Department, Toga Volunteer Fire Department, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), Buckingham Emergency Services and Virginia State Police responded to the incident.
Davis said a portion of the trailer was in one of the lanes, and said VDOT is directing traffic while the tractor trailer is being removed.
