Garland Lee Moody Jr, “Cooky”, 74 of Blackstone, VA, passed away on January 16, 2019.
He was born on October 26, 1944 to the late Garland and Mary Mayhew Moody Sr. He was married to Evelyn Browett Moody for 33 years. He served his country in the Vietnam War with the NAVY and worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 30 years. He attended Sandy Creek Church in Deatonville, VA. and was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He loved to tell stories, jokes and dance with Evelyn. He loved his Jack Russell “Coco”.
He is survived by his wife, four sons, Garland Lee Moody, III (Shannon) of Disputana VA, Kenneth Duane Moody of Chester, VA, Robert Darren Moody of Chester, VA, Christopher Moody (Kristen) of Prince George, VA, two daughters; Tammy Moody Harrell (Robert) of Dewitt, VA, Sherry Mouser (Dwayne) of Jetersville, VA, two brothers; Gary S. Moody of Sutherland, VA, Mike Moody (Debbie) of Chester, VA, one sister Rhonda Dale Moody of Dinwiddie, VA, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Jacqueline Moody McMinn and a son James Lee Moody.
A funeral service was held on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Puckett Funeral Home, Farmville, with interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice, VA. Family received friends on Sunday, January 20, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Puckett Funeral Home is serving the family. www.puckettfh.com.
